Frequently Asked Questions

Social FAQWhat Goes On at a Social?

We mostly just eat, drink, and chat, but we also do some club business, event annoucements, introduce new members, and maybe give away some door prizes. But mostly we just enjoy each other's company. Sometimes we have speakers who talk about Porsche-related topics. Socials are more about relationship than having a tightly scheduled program. In that way, you're free to meet as many new people as you'd like.

What's the Best Way to Meet New Porsche Friends?

The best way to meet new Porsche friends is exactly the same way to meet any new group of friends - introduce yourself to as many people as you can, tell them that you are new, tell them what kind of car you drive, and ask them what they drive. For some folks, this might involve moving out of one's normal comfort zone, but its the best way. For some, its intimidating or downright scary to meet new people, but the old-timers certainly appreciate the effort of the newbies, and are glad to talk to them and connect them with other drivers of the same kind of car. Of course, after a Social, the best way to integrate is to volunteer, volunteer, and volunteer. You'll get to meet and work with a lot of folks that way, and serve the fellow club members, too.

What is the Dress Code?

We certainly don't have a dress code, but if we did, it would be casual. We are car enthusiasts for the most part, not snooty owners. We share a passion for the cars in common, and an enjoyment for each other's company. We don't care if you wear a suit and tie or wear jeans to a Social. Now we do dress up for year end or awards banquets at nice places, but apart from that, we're pretty casual.

Why Aren't More Socials Held in South Atlanta?

Purely because of demographics. The majority of Peachstate members live north of the Perimeter, so to accomodate as many folks as possible, we tend to hold most of Socials in and around the highway 285/400 area, and sometimes around 285/75 or Duluth. And beleive it or not, it's not easy finding restaurants wiling to serve 50-100 people in a private room, so our choices aren't as widespread as many think. But if you'd like to host a wine tasting or some type of Social downtown, mid-town, or in south Atlanta, feel free to contact our Social chairperson and volunteer!
