We are looking for at least one more site/date. Any suggestions are
welcomed.
In addition to a new venue, we also have other significant changes for
2012:
Thanks to the support of the Board, and especially efforts of Bob
Clark, we have a NEW AUTOCROSS TRAILER. No more falling through the
rotted floor or hitting our heads on the door frame! Plus we have more
room inside. Thank you, Bob Clark!
Regarding the new venue, some of us attended a BMW Club autocross
there and found it to be a good site and hopefully more convenient for
most of our members as compared to Atlanta Motor Speedway.
We have, and will continue to work with the Peachtree BMW Club to
have greater negotiating strength for venues. This was critical to us
getting this new site. We also have an agreement to foster
participation at each other’s autocrosses (but with the caveat that our
own members get priority if space is limited).
Expanded (ie. more) classes; A return to the “Large Region” class
structure as published in the Porsche Club PCRs. This reduces the
disparity of different generations competing within the same class.
But, this also means that for trophy purposes, we will initiate
“Bumping”. To get a trophy, a driver needs to compete with at least 2
other drivers. If a class has less than 3, it will be merged with an
adjacent class (up to three classes) for trophy purposes. Drivers in a
bumped class still get year-end points credit for position within their
own class.
Price change; Sites are scarce and thus costs are up. New fees
will be $35 members, $45 non-members. This is pretty similar to SCCA
and BMWCCA. PCA members get priority if an event fills up.
Note that our objective remains; Six runs.
And finally, we are always looking for more volunteers to join our
Autocross Committee and help us put on events. In addition to having
fun, our strategy is to have enough people on the Committee that we can
spread the work load and allow people to miss events and/or have a
break during an event. We especially
need computer savvy people to help set up and run our timing system.
Great promotional opportunities. Salaries typically double in first
year. Please contact Bob Axt; robertaxt@earthlink.net.
