Autocross can be called the "poor man's race" or the "safe way to race", but many of us just call it "fun". We lay out a race course in a large, paved lot using orange cones and race the clock. If we mess up and go off course or spin out, the worst that happens is knocking down a cone or two and maybe taking a little extra rubber off our tires. This allows us to drive our cars in a very high performance, competitive and fun environment that is socially and bank account acceptable.

This year we will have five autocrosses, three at Six Flags White Water, one as part of our annual Rennfest in the north Georgia mountains, and one at Six Flags. We have decided against an additional autocross in the summer due to conflicts with Parade and the cost of sites.

And speaking of site costs, they have doubled this year. To partially defray this we are increasing entrance fees from $20 to $30. This is the same as SCCA has been charging for some time, but they get four runs and we plan to normally have six runs. If you are newcomers to autocrossing and want to run with another family member, we will give a special rate of $50 for the two of you.

And for newcomers as well as those looking to improve, we have an autocross school coming up. It will be Saturday morning, April 12, 9:00am - noon for classroom discussion, then Sunday morning, April 13, 8:30am - 11:30am for driving exercises. Stay for Autocross #1 immediately following. Autocross #1 will start after the school on April 13, with check-in at 11:30 and first car out at 1:00pm. NOTE THAT THIS IS A CHANGE FROM WHAT THE CALENDAR ORIGINALLY LISTED. For all other events, check-in will open at 9:00 am and first car out will be 10:30 am. We will again have online registration (open a couple weeks prior to each event).

Cars must be muffled, and PLEASE, no "performance driving" on nearby streets. Sites are not only expensive, they are hard to come by. Be respectful of neighbors.

We will continue the policy of limiting our autocrosses to PCA club members only. This is to maximize our number of runs. Members may drive a non-Porsche.
