Peachstate Region PCA Rally Program 2008

A Rally is a contest of following a set of instructions where participants have to stay on course and also traverse the distance between checkpoints exactly in a pre-set time. Peachstate Rallies are TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) events that last generally about 2 hours. They are designed to be challenging and FUN. If you happen to wander off course just a little, it is the Rallymaster's intention to write the instructions in such a manner so that they will bring you back on course. These Rallies are NOT speed events. They are laid out on paved public roads with speed limits, stop signs and even a traffic light or two. Each leg is it's own entity, so late or early on one leg cannot be made up on another leg of the Rally. The object of this game is to be exactly on time and a penalty point is awarded for each second early OR late.

Peachstate Region offers two Rally classes. SOP (Seat of the Pants) is our competitive class, allowing only driver and navigator in the Rally car and with minimal amount of instructions presented for course following. The TOUR class has a much more detailed set of route instructions. Each major turn along the route is given and explained to keep the rallyist on course and enhance the understanding of the Rally Rules and how they are applied. In Tour class you can bring the family. Although we would like for you to bring your Porsche to Peachstate rallies, you may participate in any vehicle.

The first rule of rallying is to have FUN. To play a game, you do need to understand the rules that govern that game. Since the same is true in rallying, we offer a Rally School, where in a classroom setting, the Rally Generals are explained. This is followed by a short Rally, to apply that, which was just learned. The second rule of rallying is, always be nice to your Rally Partner, it will lead to success.

What to bring to a Rally? Bring your clipboard or notebook, pencils, time piece (digital is best), if you have them, a copy of the Rally Generals, if not, we will have them at registration, a clear head and whatever libation you will want to drink at the after rally party.

Hope to see you at this year's Rally events. There will be a Rally article in the Presse, and updates in the Calendar here on the website, for each of this year's Rallies that will provide the pertinent detail of date, time and place.
